Dr. Jeff Donovan MD PhD FRCPC FAAD
RECENT LECTURES AND PRESENTATIONS
BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Donovan is a board-certified dermatologist and restricts his practice to two areas - (1) hair transplantation and (2) diagnosis & treatment of complex clinical presentations of hair loss. He is certified in Dermatology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and also by the American Board of Dermatology. He received his medical degree from the University of Ottawa. His post-graduate clinical training in Dermatology and PhD studies in molecular biology were conducted at the University of Toronto. In 2007-2008, Dr. Donovan was a post-doctoral fellow in New York at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where he pursued research in hair immunology. During the Fall of 2009, he trained in the Hair Diseases Program at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Donovan returned to Canada in 2010 to complete fellowship training in hair transplantation before joining the faculty at the University of Toronto. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Donovan is Medical Director (Hair Transplantation) at Hair Club, and a consultant in hair loss for the Executive Health Program at Cleveland Clinic Canada. in 2013, Dr Donovan co-founded Okavana Laboratories, a hair research company committed to developing better products for hair care and to developing new treatments for individuals affected by hair loss.
Dr. Donovan is Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. He has authored and co-authored over 40 articles which are published in a variety of research journals and is the recipient of several national and international awards for his research and leadership. In 2012, he was the recipient of a grant from the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS). Dr. Donovan's current research interests include hair transplantation, scarring alopecia, hair loss in women, ethnic hair disorders, and alopecia areata. Dr. Donovan currently serves as a medical advisor to the Canadian National Alopecia Areata Foundation (CaNAAF). His views and opinions on a variety of topics related to hair growth and hair loss are frequently cited in the media (click here to arrange interviews).
